Although I like to be frugal, I ALSO like to have hobbies, and that includes quilting and crafting. I am currently working on my very first quilt and I have come to the stage of quilting the quilt. It isn't a quilt until it is quilted!
I recently discovered this web page: http://www.heyquilty.com/
It is run by the daughter of a BIG name in the quilting world and she is going through the VERY BASICS of quilting. I have been watching the little mini-episodes and they are so helpful!
UPDATE 1/27/2012:
Lots has happened since I first set this page up! I finished my very first quilt and my DD loves it (but not more than the cat). He claimed that quilt as soon as I had it bound. I think that is the real reason he sleep's in DD's bedroom. Here is the finished product:
I also completed two other quilts since this one...one for my cousin's new baby and one for my new nephew! I also made a great wallhanging for my mom for Christmas. She collects chickens and has amassed a large collection of unique chickens, but she didn't have a quilted wallhanging yet. :-)
I am now in the process of working on three other quilts: one for my bed, one for Christmas (I know...but now I have a whole year to get it finished), and one Girl Scout quilt. I need to just get through them one by one and not try to do them all at once. I want to get that bed one finished first, so I will post a picture when it is done. I also have a request from DD to make an old-fashioned prairie-style hat, so I just need to get some heavyweight interfacing to get that project done. I will also get some requests for some quilted bags soon, too, so I will be busy sewing this year!
